Alma Negra in Redhook, Brooklyn, serves up some seriously delicious Mexican eats. The pork ribs were insanely tender and flavorful, while the black tamale made with blue corn was a unique hit. Yeah, the service was a bit slow, but the food totally made up for it. The portions were generous and perfectly priced. The vibes were cozy and welcoming, adding to the whole experience. Overall, despite the laid-back pace, Alma Negra's fantastic food and cool atmosphere make it a top spot for satisfying Mexican cravings in Brooklyn.
The place has a dark, intimate atmosphere. The service was excellent, very attentive and fast. The guacamole was outstanding, creamy, acidic, and fresh homemade chips rounded out the experience. The aguachile de tuna didn't actually have tuna (I didn't find any), which was disappointing but the salsa Verde was incredibly flavorful and a little spicy and the cucumber was a unique refreshing addition. The carne asada was perfectly cooked, the sauce was delicious, and came with garnish but not really a side. The arroz verde had a bold cilantro and garlic flavor but I thought lacked texture. The calamari and shrimp were well cooked. The cocktails were creative and beautiful.
The food here was a 10. The guacamole was delicious. I had a fish taco 🌮, its was nice and crispy. Chicken adobo was really good my husband enjoyed it. Our Margarita were also great
Always amazing. This is a neighborhood gem.
📌This past Sunday, October 8, I arrived with my family at the restaurant, the lady who served us gave us bad service, she looked uncomfortable and angry with a bad character, and she did not want to bring our drinks to our table, the bartender ended up serving us, I brought our food and drinks, the guy was very kind, thank you 💯 …
The bartender wouldn’t stop mansplaining. There is only so many times one can be polite. Great food, ambiance, great drinks even yet he effectively ruined the whole experience.
Last Sunday, October 8, I went to this highly recommended restaurant but unfortunately I suffered discrimination from the owner. Maybe I had a bad day but it doesn't justify her actions. …
I checked this spot out while walking through the neighborhood and decided to give it a shot. I will say that the menu is very underwhelming, not a lot of selections and expect to pay a little more than your usual Mexican restaurant, this …
